The Ballad of Falling Dragons by Sarah A. Parker

Just like the first book in the trilogy, The Ballad of Fallen Dragons absolutely wowed me with its lush worldbuilding, the strong and yet flawed characters, the imaginative and original dragons, and elegant writing.
I won’t name any spoilers but there was a delightful and shocking (at least for me) surprise toward the end that made me scream out loud.
I did find that the graphic violence was sometimes over-the-top and not necessarily needed for the plot even though I understand what Parker was trying to show the reader by doing so, this was a cruel and brutal world where there was no place for the squeamish.
One of my favorite side characters is Pyrok and I’m guessing he will play a bigger role in the last book in the series since we only started uncovering some of his backstory.
Can’t wait for the next book. Highly recommend it.
Work of caution: this is being marketed as a romantasy but it’s heavier on the fantasy side of things. The romance though is absolutely worth reading. Very well-done.
